Step by Step Guide

P2tog - Purl 2 together

This creates a left leaning decrease on the purl side, which results in a right leaning decrease on the knit side.

1. Insert the right needle into the front loops of the next two stitches on the left needle from right to left (the same direction as when you purl).

2. Wrap the yarn around the right needle and pull it through the two loops.

3. Let the loops fall off the left needle.

P2togtbl - Purl 2 together through the back loop

This creates a right leaning decrease on the purl side, which results in a left leaning decrease on the knit side.

1. Insert the right needle into the back loops of the next two stitches on the left needle from left to right. This can sometimes be a little tricky to get right, I recommend loosening the two stitches a little at first.

2. Wrap the yarn around the needle and pull through both loops.

3. Let the loops fall off the left needle.
