Barróg is the Irish word for “hug”, and that is really the perfect description for this shawl. From the moment it was big enough to first drape over my shoulders, I have gotten great comfort from the warmth the shawl has brought me, just like a hug. All of us most likely have had fewer hugs these last few years than we would have liked, even for the resistant hugger among us. That’s why I turned to create this hug in yarn form to fill that void.
The yarn I used has a gorgeous halo, which adds to the coziness of the shawl and gives it an air of luxury as well. It creates the kind of shawl that you could wear to a special occasion to elevate your outfit during colder evenings, but at the same time makes a great casual look as well.

Difficulty

This pattern is a relatively simple lace pattern, with the lace stitches only worked on the RS rows. All WS rows are plain.
I recommend that you are comfortable reading your knitting before tackling this pattern, as the repeats shift back and forth by a stitch at a time throughout the pattern. The ability to read what you have knit in the previous row will give you all the confidence necessary.
