Aer is the Irish word for “air”, one of the four basic elements of the Celtic world. This shawl combines soft, silky yarn with a light and airy stitch pattern. It is wonderful for spring days and summer evenings, when you need just a little shawl around your shoulders to keep you warm.
It's the perfect pattern to show off that special skein that you bought at a yarn show.

Difficulty
This pattern has lace stitches worked on both the RS and WS, so would best suit somebody who has already completed a lace project or two.

Sizes
One size
Final measurements of my sample are included in images.
The shawl can easily be adapted to be bigger or smaller if desired.

Yarn
Dame 4 ply by Townhouse Yarns
50% Merino, 50% Silk 400 meters (437yards)/ 100 gram
Sample worked in shade “Breaking Waves”.
The shawl uses up the entire skein, and you can adapt the pattern to make sure you make the most of your yarn, while not running out.

Needles
3.5 mm/ US size 4 circular needles, or size required to give you the fabric you love.

Notions
Stitch Markers (optional)
Darning Needle

Gauge
17 sts x 31 rows = 4” / 10 cm in main section pattern.
Measuring gauge over a lace fabric is not always easy, and I think it is most important that you like the texture you get.

I recommend working the first 30 rows, blocking this section and then deciding whether you want to stick with the needle size. The pattern can easily be adjusted for exactly the yardage that you have.

This project has been professionally edited and tested. Upon payment you will receive a PDF document with the knitting pattern.
